IGNITE BASKETBALL TO CEASE OPERATIONS

IGNITE FAMILIES:

Cody and I are writing today with sad but grateful hearts. First the sad part – We have been told that we will no longer be allowed to rent facilities at Perimeter Church for the IGNITE basketball program. So, unfortunately and sadly, there will be no IGNITE basketball this year.

Here is the grateful part – With the help of many of you who coached in IGNITE, we have had opportunities to bring thousands of those in our neighborhoods and communities into our church and to expose them to the Gospel and to God’s Kingdom. You all were amazing.

Cody and I decided to take over the running of Perimeter/IGNITE Basketball in response to a call from our pastors to intentionally engage our neighbors for the purpose of exposing them to God and his people. Through basketball and soccer, there are thousands of families who have been exposed to the Gospel. We have many, many examples of the fruit of everyone’s efforts. We are so grateful for all of you who made an impact for God’s Kingdom.

We also are thankful for all of you who allowed us to love on your kids and were willing listen to our efforts to try and explain and live out the incredible Gospel message. The Gospel has the power to change all of us, and we have had a front row seat as God did his work through IGNITE.

Please let us end with two important requests. First, for all our involved Perimeter Members – this is a sad decision for us. But we love our church, and we will always work to protect its purity and peace. If you have any concerns about any church decision, please express those concerns with the right people. Also, please honor our commitments to love each other well. While we are sad with the decision, we love and respect our church leaders with all our hearts.

Secondly, let’s please not ever stop engaging with our neighbors and speaking truth in love to a hurting world. We serve a great God who has given us the Gospel and called us to share it and grow God’s Kingdom. We continue to believe that recreational sport gives us the opportunity to engage. So please coach in your community leagues and keep showing our neighbors the greatness of God and his love. The Gospel is powerful and really is the answer to the brokenness that is all around us.

We love all you guys.

Davis Butler,
Cody Baxter

What Makes IGNITE Basketball Academy Different?

Halftime Free Throws

Every player at IGNITE gets a chance to score. At halftime, all players from each team line up to shoot free throws that count towards the score of the game. Excludes 5th-6th Boys and 7th-8th Boys

Equal Playing Time

IGNITE takes multiple steps to ensure that every player will get equal playing time each game and throughout the season.

Positive, Family Friendly Atmosphere

Too many leagues place too high an emphasis on winning. We want every team to experience winning, but we also want to make sure that everybody, from players, to parents, to coaches, is loving the game. We highly encourage everyone involved with IGNITE to think about the heart of the children involved and how the environment can remain positive as often as possible.
